Request Data Sets and Indicator Codebooks

As part of our mission to advance the use of child health data, the Data Resource Center for Child and Adolescent Health offers enhanced analytical data sets and codebooks based on the National Survey of Children’s Health (NSCH) and the National Survey of Children with Special Health Care Needs (NS-CSHCN) data files provided to the public by the US Census Bureau or the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS).

2016 NSCH public use data files are available on the Census Bureau website. DRC Indicator Data Sets include all records and variables from the NCHS or Census Bureau public use data files for the surveys. Additional content includes dozens of additional variables corresponding to measures of children's health status, health care quality and system performance for any state featured in the DRC online data query. Also provided when possible are variables used for DRC subpopulation comparisons and analyses by any state, District of Columbia or HRSA region. SPSS, SAS and STATA datasets are available, and variables are formatted and clearly labeled.

To request a DRC data set and/or codebook from any NSCH or NS-CSHCN, please complete a one-time registration and fill out the online data set request form.

***10/22/2018 Due to the launch of the new DRC website, some users were having trouble logging into their DRC account to access downloadable data sets and codebooks. If you have created an account during or after July 2018, you may have been affected. If you were affected by this issue, please reset your password. Once we receive your request and Data Use Agreement, we will review your request form within 48 hours. You will then receive an automated e-mail letting you know that your data sets and/or codebooks are available for download on your My Requests page.
