Results from the newest NSCH survey are discussed on this DataSpeak. The survey is set up to examine the physical and emotional health of children from birth through 17 years of age. Emphasis is placed on factors that may be related to the well-being of children, including medical homes, family interactions, parental health, school experiences, and neighborhood safety.

Building upon a DataSpeak conducted in 2005 which provided an overview of initial findings from the survey, this program presented findings from three indepth studies that were featured in a special February 2007 issue of Pediatrics.

In this DataSpeak program, officials from the MCHB and NCHS described the purpose of the survey, its design, and the methodology used to collect the data. A professor at the Institute for Health Policy Studies, University of California at San Francisco provided an overview of survey findings.
